Jiří Hrdý elucidate mutual interactions with microbes and host immune system in health and disease. He his unraveling the immune response against SARS-CoV-2 infection, effectiveness of both novel drugs and vacccines using experimental mouse model of transgenic mice expressing ACE-2. As part of his research, he mainly focuses on the characterization of the immunomodulating properties of probiotics, their role in establishing and maintaining the mutual equilibrium between the microbiota and the host's immune system. Another area of interest is the study of the impact of dysbiosis (using experimental models of antibiotic-induced dysbiosis) on susceptibility to the development of intestinal inflammation.
